How do I mark the library closed for a day?

Last updated August 6, 2026

Holidays and one-off closures should be marked so Kickstool doesn't flag those days as uncovered — and so nobody gets scheduled by mistake.

  1. Go to Time Off → Closures.
  2. Add a date and an optional reason, or paste a list of closure dates at once.
  3. Save. Coverage warnings skip those days.

Heads up

A closure (the library is shut) is different from a normal closed day in your weekly hours. Use closures for holidays and unexpected shut-downs; use weekly hours for the days you're simply never open.

Repeat a fixed-date holiday every year

For a holiday that always falls on the same date — July 4th, December 25th — check Repeats every year when you add it. Kickstool keeps a few years of future occurrences generated automatically, so you never have to re-add it.

A repeating closure shows up two ways: the series itself lives in its own Repeats every year list (remove it there to stop the whole series, going forward), and each year's actual date still appears in Upcoming or Past like any other closure. Editing or removing a single date only changes that one year — the rest of the series is unaffected.

If you try to schedule someone on a closed day, Kickstool warns you before you save.
