How do I request time off?

Last updated August 16, 2026

Anyone with a login can request time off, and you'll see right away whether it clashes with shifts you're already on.

  1. Open Time off (or use Request time off from My schedule).
  2. Pick the type (PTO, sick, conference, travel, or other) and tap the days you'll be out — they don't have to be in a row. Mark a half-day if you need to.
  3. Review the conflict preview, add a note if helpful, and submit.

Note

If your library requires approval, your request goes to an admin and shows as Pending until they decide. You'll get an email when it's approved or denied.

Tap only the days you want marked as time off. Days you skip stay blank on the schedule — so someone who never works Monday won't show as PTO that day. Shift-click a second day if you do want a whole stretch. Kickstool does not keep a PTO balance; your payroll system keeps the official count.

You can edit or withdraw a pending request any time, and resubmit if a request was denied.
