When does Kickstool notify me?

Last updated July 19, 2026

Kickstool tells you about changes two ways: email, and the bell at the top of the app. Everything that emails you also shows up under the bell, so a deleted email is never lost.

Right away

When someone else changes something that affects you, you hear about it immediately:

  • One of your shifts is moved, put on a different service point, or gets a new note
  • One of your shifts is given to someone else, or an existing shift is reassigned to you
  • One of your shifts is canceled
  • Your recurring shift changes going forward
  • Your time-off request is approved or denied
  • Your coverage request — or a shift you offered to cover — is approved or denied
  • Your role changes, or your access is restored

You're never notified about changes you make yourself.

Every Sunday evening

The "Your week ahead" email lists your shifts for the coming week, plus any open coverage requests you could pick up. If you have neither, it skips that week. You can switch it to daily or turn it off from your profile.

What doesn't send an alert

  • A brand-new shift added to your schedule. It appears on My schedule and in your Sunday email, but there's no immediate email or bell entry for it yet.
  • A new coverage request someone else posts. Open requests are listed on the Time off page and in your Sunday email.

Tip

Checking My schedule is always the surest picture — notifications tell you what changed, the schedule shows where things stand now.

Turning emails off

Your profile has switches for schedule-change, time-off, and coverage emails. Turning an email off doesn't hide anything: the bell keeps its list either way, so you can catch up whenever you open Kickstool.

Directors can also turn off schedule-change emails for the whole library under Settings → Permissions — the bell keeps working there too.
